55th Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation, Asia and Pacific Region Nadi, Fiji, 22 to 26 October 2018

I have the honor to inform you that the 55th Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation, Asia and Pacific Region (DGCA/55) will be held from 22 to 26 October 2018 at the Sheraton Fiji Resort, Denarau Island, Nadi, Fiji. On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Fiji, it is my pleasure to cordially invite you and your delegation to this conference.

The theme of the DGCA/55 is:

“Collaboration and Harmonisation for Safe, Secure and Sustainable Aviation in the Asia Pacific Region”

ICAO’s Strategic Objectives are strongly linked to 15 of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Sustainable aviation development is a driver for economic development, trade and tourism, especially in Asia Pacific Region, which has become one of the biggest aviation markets in the world. Hence, the theme for this conference is appropriate for us to engage in interactive and stimulating deliberations including sharing of experience and evolution of novel concepts and ideas in order to enhance the sustainability of international aviation operations.

To facilitate in the preparation for the conference, I would request you to kindly take note of the following administrative arrangements:

  1. Submission of Conference papers

For presentation of Discussion Papers (DPs) and/or Information Papers (IPs) for the conference, please take into consideration the theme of the conference and the Provisional Agenda. The electronic copy of the paper(s) should be sent to the ICAO APAC Office by email to apac@icao.int with a copy to the Conference Secretariat (i.e. CAA Fiji) at secretariat@dgca55.com.fj  by 21 September 2018, the deadline for submission of papers.

  1. Conference website

A Conference website has been setup with the following internet address: www.dgca55.com.fj. All papers will be posted on the Conference website prior to the Conference.  The registration login details are contained in the invitation letters sent to each State.

The website will contain, as they become available, the Conference Bulletin, Conference Agenda, guidance on the submission of DPs and IPs, DP and IP templates, registration procedures and other logistical information for delegates and accompanying persons.

  1. Conference registration and hotel information

States/Administrations and other invited organisations are requested to send the names of their authorized delegation together with passport numbers to the ICAO APAC Office by email to apac@icao.int with a copy to registration@dgca55.com.fj prior to any individual registration. The conference registration form is available on the conference website.  It is recommended that conference registrations are made online preferably before 5 October 2018.

Conference delegates are entitled to discounts at the recommended hotels and on our national airline, Fiji Airways. Please refer to the conference website regarding hotel and flight reservation and other relevant information.
